Simon versus Lautréamont
Lesser spotted Belgian Surrealist Armand Simon, and a drawing for Lautréamont’s Les Chants de Maldoror on Surrealist NYC.
According to the Historical Dictionary of Surrealism Armand Simon produced “hundreds of drawings loosley inspired by this text,” which we’d love to see. Simon also illustrated Rimbaud, Kafka and Lewis Carroll. See also, John Coulthart for more Lautréamont, including illustrations for Maldoror by more famous Belgian Surrealist Magritte.
